Child Restraint Monitor
At the Consumer Electronics Show in early 2006 -- the biggestpersonal-gadget trade fair of the year -- Delphi showed off its ChildRestraint Monitor. Targeted to come to market in 2007, thebattery-operated device uses motion sensors (and others) to detectwhether a parent has installed a car seat correctly. The monitor checksthe four common mistakes when installing an infant car seat: anunattached seat base; unbuckled seat belts; an incorrect, unsafe angleof installation; and a loose seat harness. A light signal alertsparents if something needs correction.
