Self-repairing material

A german outdoor sports brand is now using a polyamide material with a silicon layer in a few of their products. That not only makes the material water-resistant but if there is a hole in the backpack, the silicone layer will try and repair itself back into its original form. There are however limits to this: only holes of a few millimeters large will be repaired in a few minutes.The material is used in a few of there superlight backpacks and tents.
