Bird's nest for the Olympic stadium in Beijing

The birds nest structure lets light inside and filters simultaneously coldand wind. The architects Herzog and De Meuron extracted inspiration forthe design of the new Olympic stadium in Beijing. This consists of41875 steel "twigs" and translucent panels of tetrafluoroethylene that has thesame insulatian functions as mud, plumes and mosses in a bird'snest.
The structure is 69 meters high and 320 m long and can accommodate 91000 spectators.
