Shape-shifting bicycles
Everglide, from Australian designer FragWoodall, can be folded down into its rear carry-case meaning it can bewheeled, backpacked or cycled. The integrated solution satisfies allkinds of needs for short-distance cyclists and is able to be carried onother forms of public transport such as trams, trains and buses.Everglide represents a holistic and sustainable approach to individualtransport, offering the user speed and storage-based mobility into onelightweight unit. The intelligent design of this bike makes itextremely practical, particularly because of its collapsing centralbottom bracket. Releasing the central locking lever simultaneouslyeffects three actions: the frame splits so that the bicycle folds, theshaft-drive gears disengage so that it can freewheel and the pedalsdisengage folding into the pack. The shaft-drive mechanism islight-weight and compact, making it a clean smart drive solution andhand held devices such as phones and iPodâs are able to be plugged inand regeneratively charged via frictionless magnetic dynamo technology.
