Innovation on the High Seas : The X-Bow

The X-Bow, named for its "X" shape, comes in several sizes and canbe manufactured to fit almost any ship. The design calls for laying thebow in a backward direction while also increasing the height. Thevessel will be able to withstand more submersion as well as higherwaves.

According to Ulstein, the benefits will also reach intothe environment. The design reduces the amount of drag on the splittingend of the vessel. It also makes the hulldistribute airflow more evenly. The reduction in drag and moreefficient airflow will decrease the amount of fuel needed to maintainspeed and decrease total transit time. The hull design will alsoincrease stability in the open ocean and reduce the rolling sensationwhen on rougher waters.
