Gravity-defying beta gel cushions

Beta Gel is a soft silicone gel developed by Tokyo-based Geltec Corporation. It is an improvement of Alpha Gel,a shock absorbing Geltec gel that is currently being put to use inproducts such as shoe soles and the protective lining of portable radioequipment. A demonstration of the shock absorbing power of Beta Gel, shows an egg dropped from the top of a building onto a thin sheet of the gel, andit survives without any damage!
