MYGO

The system maintains a constant watch on its location through GPS-satellites and existing mobile phone networks. The accurateness of the positioning is optimized thanks to the integration of high-resolution map data, a digital compass, and a sensor cluster for full recognition of its surroundings. The PMD camera delivers 3D data in real time, whereby the system can react to static and dynamic obstacles. The drive system uses a hub motor, which is mounted inside the rim of the wheel. The electrical steering motor helps the blind user to move continuously with dynamic movements through his or her surroundings. The interface allows tactile operation through the handle, as well as auditory operation through a special headset. MYGO's task is to increase users' independence, to enhance their mobility, and, due to the early recognition of obstacles, to allow dynamic movements and reactions to their environment.
